About Me


With over 25 years of service, Stony is a veteran Arkansas public school educator, a published author, and a commander in the Army National Guard.

He is currently the Library Media Specialist at Malvern Middle School and serves as Commander of the 106th Army Band in North Little Rock, where he has served in the Army National Guard for over 18 years. He is dedicated to making the library the hub of activity in the school learning community, with a focus on creating lifelong learners through literacy and technology.

Stony's career also includes roles as Assistant Library Director at the Saline County Library, Operations Manager at the Cross County Public Library, and Library Media Specialist at both Bethel Middle School and Lakeside High School.

He is the co-author of Hacking School Libraries and contributed a chapter to the book Using Social Media to Build Library Communities. From 2015 to 2020, he wrote a monthly column for School Library Connection magazine. This blog is an ongoing reflection of his library adventures.
